Piano Tuning
Tuning before playing the bass, for a tuned to standard pitch. Usiing a piano as a tuning source as shown in the following diagram.
Tip: Some older pianos are tuned a half step below standard pitch.
Tuning Fork
A tuning fork is an accurate way to obtain a standard pitch to tune a double bass. The most common tuning fork is A = 440, generate an A note. Match the 3rd string with the tuning fork, relative tune from here.
Electronic Tuner
A "chromatic" electronic tuner for double bass can tune it, electronic tuners can also be used to be sure your left hand plays each note in tune, it will also display the name of note you are playing.
