EEC 3704 Program Support Interview Common Themes and Reflection
In our FigJam, we brainstormed the following from the interviews we did for program support: Two significant themes in the research were the integration of communication in learning processes and the permanent assessment of learning.
Firstly, the theme of communication was highlighted by the use of many sticky notes connected with strings connecting to the word wall. They highlighted the importance of communication. They said that it should be done as often and as soon as possible with all the people who are involved in a child's learning process, including teachers, parents, doctors, and therapists. This was captured in the blue sticky note, which showed that communication is essential in the learning process, and it also assists in demonstrating to a child that someone out there cares for him. This was also brought out in the note on the affairs of parenting and the need for parents to be present in each process of development and implementation.
Second, is the importance of continuous assessment and utilization of data, which is another theme that was discussed in the paper. In this segment, discussed how phase demographics and other relevant student information should be utilized in the process of decision-making concerning assessments and IEPs. also pointed out that to get successful quality instruction, best practice, high-specificity, & Research-based instruction standards have to be included. She also expounded on the need to evaluate learners' skills and the importance of early teaching intervention at the Tier-1 classroom level.
By comparing these themes with the individual interviews, I identified considerable consistency. My interview also stressed the significance of effective communication with all the stakeholders and the need for updated monitoring to evaluate the progress of the students. However, there were some differences. As observed in the interview, there is more focus on expectations that students need to meet and achieve, which has been mentioned in one of the blue sticky notes during the group activity but not on a deeper level.
I was surprised to see that both teams identified communication and assessments as critical success factors when their perspectives were so dissimilar. For instance, the group discussed parental involvement slightly more than what was brought out in my interview.
A lingering question I have is: How can we ensure that all the communication parties are active and participating throughout the year? Further, how can ongoing assessments be conducted without overburdening the students in the class?
